With today's article, we delve into some Collector's Boxes from the Pokémon world!
We are talking about the Cyclizar-EX box, Hisui's Electrode and finally Virizion V.
But first of all: what are collector's boxes?
These special boxes, obviously decided and published by the gentlemen of The Pokémon Company, are particular editions dedicated to a particular Pokémon. Some boxes also featured two Pocket-Monsters at the same time.
Their peculiarity is certainly the three cards always placed in the foreground. These special cards, in addition to being rare, are holographed or satin. They have as subject the protagonist Pokémon of the set and another that accompanies it.
Some boxes may have some gadgets inside, such as figurines, coins or pins. It is clear that all these components that cannot be found in simple sachets have a strong collectible value, as well as enhancing one's decks and thus improving one's Pokémon collection.
To complete the components that are often found in this kind of Pokémon product, the sachets cannot be missing. These are almost always 4, from two or more expansions.
The Collector's Box dedicated to Cyclizar-EX
As described above, we find the Pokémon Cyclizar-EX, both in giant and normal card versions, accompanied by Rotom's special card.
In Pokémon categorization, Cyclizar-EX is Normal-type. In this case and for this edition, it has 210 HP, with the two moves Energicorsa and A Tablet. The first does 30 damage to an opposing Pokémon and allows you to search your deck for an energy card, then assign it to Cyclizar. The cost is one Energy. The second hit inflicts 180 damage to the opponent, but blocks the Pokémon for a turn to recharge. Cost three Energy.
In addition to the three promotional cards, we will also have two packets of the Pokémon TCG of Scarlet and Violet, one of Celestial Storm, and one Astri Lucenti.
In addition, each Cyclizar-EX Collection also contains a code card for the Pokémon TCG Online.
But what does "POKEMON EX" mean?
EX = Extras.
Pokémon that are joined by this acronym have significantly stronger attacks than the others. They can have up to two Weaknesses and two Resistances, a Retreat Cost, which takes up to five Energy. Furthermore, these little monsters have Health Points that are close to the 120 HP limit. To gauge their power, they are bound by one rule: when a Pokémon ex is Knocked Out, the opponent takes two Prize cards instead of one.
Pokémon-EX made their first appearance in the EX Ruby & Sapphire expansion.
The Collector's Box dedicated to Hisui's Electrode-V
Electrode is an electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I.
In the Hisui region, a setting introduced in "Pokémon Legends: Arceus", a regional version of the type electric/grass lives there. And he is the protagonist of this edition.
This Grass-type Pokémon becomes even more powerful when affected by special conditions and can deal up to 300 damage for free, so don't be afraid to risk it!
Hisui's Electrode has HP 210 with a double attack: Wrath Bomb, which deals 100x damage to the opponent, and Sun Strike. The second attack does up to 120 damage.
Definitely not a Pokémon to be underestimated!
In this collection we find 4 booster packs:
Also with the code card for online play.
But what does "POKEMON V" mean?
Pokémon-V work similar to Pokémon-EX. So again, we end up with stronger attacks and higher HP. However, when a Pokémon V is Knocked Out, the opponent gets two Prize cards instead of one.
Also, all of these Pokémon are Basic Pokémon (does not evolve from any Pokémon).
The Collector's Box dedicated to Virizion V
Of the three boxes described, this is the one with the protagonist Pokémon with the most interesting story.
Virizion is a dual-type Grass/Fighting Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation V. According to legend, he fought to the bitter end to protect the Pokémon of Unova, joined by Kaldeo, Cobalion and Terrakion.
Along with Cobalion, Terrakion and Keldeo are members of the Solemn Swordsmen. The Solemn Swordsmen are also known by the unofficial names Trio dei Musketetieri or Quartetto dei Musketetieri.
It is easy to understand why they are called that: the four Pokémon are comparable to the unforgettable protagonists of the novel by Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers.
Cobalion represents Athos, the leader of the group. Terrakion Porthos, the strongest and most handsome character. Virizion Aramis, leaner and more elegant. Keldeo D'Artagnan, the youngest, as well as an "external" member of the group.
The legend of Keldeo says that, following a great fire that devastated his house, he lost sight of his parents when he was still a child. Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion found him and, seeing that he needed help, trained him and taught him how to fight and survive. Keldeo then grew strong quickly and became even more powerful than his masters. Finally, one day, he disappeared into the woods for no apparent reason.
And it is precisely to him that a holographic card of the collection is dedicated, together with Virizion.
The first has HP 110, with a double attack: Explosive Kick (20 damage) and Force Pack (10+ damage).
200 with the Emerald Blade attack, dealing up to 200 damage.
