Minions The Rise of Gru Original Soundtrack CD
Available from July 1st in 4 VERSIONS the album of the original soundtrack created for "Minions 2: come Gru becomes very bad" (Minions: The Rise of Gru), the new cartoon to be released on August 18th in Italian cinemas. Set in the 1970s, the film tells the story of how Gru, the world's greatest super-villain, first met his iconic Minions, forming cinema's most despicable team and taking on the most unstoppable criminal force ever assembled.
"Turn Up The Sunshine" is the sparkling single performed by Diana Ross ft. Tame Impala produced by Jack Antonoff, winner of the 2022 Grammy as “Producer of the Year”, available on 45” vinyl in a limited edition.
The rest of the soundtrack celebrates a range of classics from funk, disco and soul, with previously unreleased versions of some of the biggest hits of the 70s crafted by some of today's brightest talents. From St. Vincent's re-imagining of Lipps Inc's 1979 hit Funkytown and H.E.R. of Sly and The Family Stone's 1967 hit Dance to the Music, to Bleachers' version of the song Instant Karma! by John Lennon's 1970 and Phoebe Bridgers' rendition of the Carpenters' 1972 single Goodbye To Love, each track has been re-imagined by each artist with ingenious results. And of course the Minions themselves feature prominently on the album, with their particular take on a 70s classic, Cecilia, by Simon & Garfunkel.
Executive producer of the soundtrack, Jack Antonoff has been described by the BBC as having "redefined pop music", he has collaborated with the likes of Diana Ross, Taylor Swift, Lorde, St. Vincent, Florence + The Machine, Lana Del Rey, Kevin Abstract collecting numerous accolades including six Grammy Awards and in 2022 Producer of the
