Universal reissue as double CD deluxe 'The Idiot', Iggy Pop's first solo album after the disbandment of the Stooges released on March 18, 1977 by RCA: aclassic 'anomalous' rock that the Michigan artist himself defined 'a cross between James Brown and Kraftwerk' born from an all-out collaboration with David Bowie (producer, co-author of the songs and multi-instrumentalist in the studio, alongside musicians such as guitarists Carlos Alomar and Phil Palmer), who with that record anticipated his famous 'Berlin trilogy' by recording it in part in the Hansa studios of the former East German capital. Inspired in the title by the novel of the same name by Fyodor Dostoevsky and characterized by electronic sounds and introspective atmospheres that have influenced hundreds of subsequent artists of the post punk, gothic and industrial genre including Joy Division, Depeche Mode and Nine Inch Nails, it was not a huge success commercial but, while detaching itself from the guitar and brutal rock of the Stooges, it has gone down in history for epochal songs such as 'Nightclubbing' and 'China Girl' (later recorded by Bowie himself six years later on 'Let's Dance'). Iggy himself described it as the album that ensured him full freedom of expression, even if it retains a sound imprint that is definitely far from his most characteristic style. This edition re-proposes it in a remastered version alongside an unreleased concert recorded on March 7, 1977 at the Rainbow in London in which the songs of 'The Idiot' ('Sister Midnight', 'Funtime', 'China Girl') join in the lineup to the classic Stooges ('Raw Power', 'Tv Eye', '1969', 'No Fun', 'Search And Destroy', 'I Wanna Be Your Dog') and previews from the subsequent 'Lust For Life' ('Tonight ',' Turn Blue ') confirming, in an Iguana then at the top of its form, one of the most extraordinary stage animals in the history of rock and roll
