U2 War CD
War coincides with U2's third album. It was released on February 28, 1983.
The Irish band was inspired by the ongoing conflicts, the social movements of the 80s. In the 10 tracks, therefore, we find social and political themes.
The songs with a political background are: Sunday Bloody Sunday, the band's flagship. The text is based on a true news story. It tells of the massacre of peaceful Northern Irish civilians by the British army in Derry on January 30, 1972.
Seconds, on the topic of nuclear paranoia (the Chernobyl disaster).
New Year's Day, dedicated to Lech Walesa, and The Refugee, which deals with a little girl in a refugee camp.
As a sound, War is accompanied by a strong guitar sound and Bono's voice.
On the cover is an 8-year-old boy, Peter Rowen.
