The Killers Pressure Machine CD
The Killers have released their seventh studio album, entitled “Pressure Machine”, on Island Records, available digitally from August 2021 and as a CD version from August 27th. The album was co-produced by the band, Shawn Everett, and Jonathan Rado (of Foxygen), who had previously worked together on the acclaimed album "Imploding The Mirage" released the year before.
When the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted promotion and world touring for the 2020 album, "everything stopped," frontman Brandon Flowers says. "And it was the first time in a long time that I found myself faced with silence. And from that silence this record began to flourish". "Pressure Machine" is a glimpse into the everyday reality of a small American town with a hard and bare beauty, it is the Killers' most sober and profound album.
This record has its roots in Flowers' hometown of Nephi: a tight-knit community of only 5300 between the Utah cornfields and West Hills. Nephi is where the singer spent his formative years, and the album's songs are based on the memories and stories of the people who impacted his growth, interspersed with commentary from the town's current residents. The record is an aural document of growing up - and life - in the American Southwest, told from a myriad of perspectives. For the first time in his life, Flowers completely wrote the lyrics before a note of music was put on tape. The album weaves Flowers' signature strands of lyricism into a perfect whole that culminates in the most elegant album The Killers have ever made.
