Elton John announces a new recording project that explores his boundless repertoire with Rarities from the 1965-1971 period, B-Sides forgotten and Deep Cuts personally chosen by Elton himself.
A box set with hidden treasures, rarities and collectible gems, including 60 previously unreleased tracks; the luxurious box set is enriched by a hardcover book containing new interviews and archival graphics and 81 tracks available digitally for the first time.
Elton John releases "Elton: Jewel Box", out November 13 for Universal Music / EMI, "Elton: Jewel Box" is a new collection that contains 148 songs from 1965 to 2019 in 8CD, 4LP, 3LP and 2LP.
The box set is an in-depth research through Elton's vast catalog, "Elton: Jewel Box" in fact includes rarities from the early years of his musical journey together with Bernie Taupin, B-sides chosen from 30 years of recordings and songs he himself cited. in his memoir 'Me', a bestseller released last year and acclaimed by all the critics. The box set includes a beautiful hardcover book and 8 discs collected in special slipcase. The work is divided into various sections and each section is accompanied by bio-discographic notes, including Elton's personal song-by-song comments for 'Deep Cuts'. There will be three vinyl editions, all with black vinyl and gatefold packaging: 4LP for 'Deep Cuts' (the section edited by Elton himself), 3LP for 'Rarities And B-Sides' and 2LP 'And This Is Me ...'. The audio was remastered at Abbey Road Studios by Sean Magee.
Speaking of this new release, Elton said "Going back to the various stages of my career in such detail for 'Jewel Box' was a real pleasure. Listening to these lost tracks again, it's hard to understand how prolific Bernie and I were in our early days. . The songs were born thanks to our collaboration and the band was just incredible in the studio. I always want to move on with everything I do and look to the future, but the time I had during the lockdown to take stock and retrace these moments is It was a joy. Disc 1 & 2
A selection personally curated by Elton. The box set book includes a song-by-song commentary by Elton John of all the songs on “Deep Cuts”.
Disc 3, 4 & 5
Elton's demos from the 1960s and early 1970s, the music that cemented the foundations of Elton John and Bernie Taupin's iconic collaboration. The unpublished period, a missing piece of his illustrious career. Journalist-writer Daryl Easlea tells this fascinating story with the contribution of the witnesses of that particular moment. These three CDs comprise 65 songs, many of which have been jealously preserved in archives for more than 50 years. Most of these demos were recorded during sessions prior to Elton John's signing of a record deal. Also included are Elton's first song ever written and his debut on a record ("Come Back Baby" - 1965), Elton and Bernie's first composition ("Scarecrow" - 1967) and the piano / voice demo. of some of the most famous songs from Elton John's early albums. The box also contains rare artwork and manuscript replicas of the original texts.

Songs not contained in LPs, B-Sides, collaborations and other rarities never published in their entirety. 36 gems that now have a chance to shine, 17 of which previously only released on vinyl and now available digitally for the first time.

Simultaneously with the UK release of the paperback and updated edition of 'Me', the third section of the box set celebrates the songs mentioned in the Elton book, closing the Jewel Box with "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again", the duet with Taron Egerton, winner of the 2020 Oscar.
