Lady Gaga The Monster Ball Tour At Madison Square Garden
The Monster Ball Tour was the second world tour of the American singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, supporting her third EP, The Fame Monster.
The tour started four days after the release of EP The Fame Monster, November 27, 2009, and ended in May 2011, becoming the longest ever undertaken by the artist.
At the end of 2009, the synopsis and costumes were changed, due to the artist's fear that the tour had been created too hastily. Critics praised Gaga's singing skills and sense of style and fashion. They were also surprised by the theatricality of the show, comparing the tour to those of artists like Madonna.
The Monster Ball Tour was a great commercial success, with many sold-out shows, so much so that the demand for tickets forced the organizers to add more dates to the itinerary. The tour has grossed around $ 227.4 million in 203 dates, totaling around 2.5 million viewers and has therefore become the one with the highest grossing in the history of an emerging artist. HBO also filmed a special date at Madison Square Garden in February 2011, showing the entire concert and backstage. The special, titled Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden, aired on May 7, 2011 and was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on November 21, 2011.
