One year after the death of Ennio Morricone, Universal Music Italia dedicates a dutiful homage to the Maestro who, in his seventy-year career, has brought so much prestige to music and to our country in the dual role of composer and conductor.
If Ennio Morricone enjoyed enormous notoriety for the soundtracks he signed, which earned him countless awards and two © Oscar Awards, it is known how the Maestro also loved to devote himself to composing pieces of absolute music, or classical music. aimed at traditional performance in the concert hall. These compositions are dedicated to extremely varied ensembles, ranging from a simple solo instrument to complex symphonic ensembles.
Piano Music, the album now in publication, is dedicated to compositions for solo piano, and includes a large part of the repertoire dedicated to this instrument. It should also be said that the musical production of Maestro Ennio Morricone is fortunately enriched with new findings from month to month, so it is currently unthinkable to speak of a real integral.
An exceptional interpreter is Roberto Prosseda, who has always been a devoted lover of the Maestro's music, so much so that he attended him regularly and even had the privilege of having a piece dedicated to him.
To the compositions of absolute music, destined to arouse the attention of critics and musicologists and to shed new light on the figure of the Maestro, there are nine transcriptions of themes from soundtracks for solo piano, by the Maestro himself, never made publicly available by the family. before now.
The album will be available all over the world, in physical and digital form, on the Decca Black label, the same one that a few years ago released Morricone '60, a great success in which the composer himself conducted some of his most famous columns in symphonic form. sound.
