Original title: What Price Hollywood? Mary is a waitress with film ambitions. Her dream comes true when she meets Max, a talented young filmmaker who makes her a real star. But the more Mary becomes famous, the more she declines the career of her Pygmalion, subjugated by the vice of alcohol. Mary will always be grateful to him even when Max falls in complete disgrace. Original title: Sylvia Scarlett
Description: Henry Scarlett, recently widowed, stole money from his employer and decides to leave Marseille for England. His daughter Sylvia follows him, pretending to be a boy to throw off police research. The two know Jimmy on the ferry, another swindler, who offers them to work together. The group makes ends meet as acrobats turning from city to city, and one day they meet an artist, Fane, whom Sylvia falls in love with, but he is engaged to Lily and believes that Sylvia is a boy. The girl reveals to the artist to be a woman and to be in love with him, but in the meantime Lily arrives and Sylvia flees, seeking comfort from Jimmy. During a stormy night, Henry loses his life in disgrace and his daughter plans to continue with Jimmy. But Jimmy runs away with Lily and Sylvia and Fane chase them. After finding them departing on a train, they realize they are in love with each other and let them leave.
