Plot The Woman of Paris DVD Film
DISC ONE- The film In a small village in the south of France, Marie and Jean decide to leave for Paris, where they can love each other, free from the prejudices of their respective families. Due to a series of circumstances beyond his control, Jean cannot reach the woman who, believing herself abandoned, leaves alone for Paris where she will become a luxury prostitute. When Jean finds her again, out of shame Marie does not accept it.
NOTES Chaplin's first independent film marked a real failure of the public but gained the enthusiasm of the critics who spoke of a masterpiece. Not a consolation for Charlie Chaplin, who considered the public the only valid judgment. Inspired by the figure of Peggy Hopkins Joyce, a dancer also famous for the many marriages with billionaire men that Chaplin had known personally, the film is set in France, so as not to hurt the susceptible high American society .. Charles Chaplin will write a script for the film in 1976. It will be his last work in a film studio.
