Picnic DVD Movie
In a small town in Kansas, some acquaintances and neighbors organize a weekend picnic. Participants: Flora Ovens, a widow with her two daughters, Madge and Millie, the first beautiful, but not too intelligent, the second, younger, student and saucy, Helen Potts, an elderly lady teacher, Rosemary who lives near the Ovens, with his friend Howard, a mature man, Alan, son of a silos director, in love with Madge. Madge does not return the feeling of Alan, because he believes he is attracted only by her beauty: but her mother would like to let him marry her, being a good party. At the last moment he joins the party Hal Carter, a handsome young man, who makes a wandering life and came to the city in the hope of finding work with the help of his friend Alan, known at the university. Hal is invited to participate in the picnic to keep Millie company, without a rider. Madge is elected queen of the party and everything goes well between the general cheerfulness and the games: you also drink a few glasses more than necessary. At one point Madge leaves Alan and starts dancing with Hal: this causes the lover's resentment, while Millie is disappointed. Rosemary's inappropriate intervention, half-drunk, serves to increase tension, while Hal decides to leave. Madge follows him, the two exchange confidences and understand in the end to love each other, Madge returns home late at night: Millie, who has understood how her sister is animated by a serious feeling, asks her to apologize for her tantrums. The day after the mature Howard marries Rosemary, Hal has to flee due to a complaint by Alan, irritated by the failure, and Madge, who finally found true love, follows him. Mrs Ovens, despite her apprehension, ends up resigning herself, convinced by the words of Mrs Helen Potts.
