Aphrodite's Child 666 CD
666 (The Apocalypse of John, 13/18) is to be considered as the first and only album made in 1972 by Aphrodite's Child, among other things released after the dissolution already occurred.
666 (The Apocalypse of John, 13/18) is a concept album, with a unique theme, in which the topic revolves around the Apocalypse of John, where the end of the world is described and the victory of good over evil. Alongside the pieces of clear religious inspiration, in the texts but also in the music, there are also songs that speak of events that happened in those years, for example what happened in Altamont, at a concert of the Rolling Stones, during which the Hells Angels, who was entrusted with the order service, killed a spectator.
Musically, the album comes out of the usual three-minute song scheme to develop a wider musical discourse, which approaches progressive rock. The atmospheres are very varied: strong influences of Greek folklore, pastoral atmospheres alternated with hard rock songs and use of electronics. The song Infinity is played by the famous actress Irene Papas, and is the clear simulation of a sexual orgasm. A song that will cause a sensation.
The record is a musical birth of the mind of only Papathanassiou, the texts are by Costas Ferris and the other members participate only as instrumentalists; Demis Roussos sings in only three tracks. Ultimately we could say that 666 is the first album by Vangelis Papathanassiou.
