Paul Weller Wake Up The Nation CD
WAKE UP THE NATION is the tenth studio album by PAUL WELLER, originally released in 2010 and later nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.
NEW 10th ANNIVERSARY REMASTERED CD VERSION.
It is considered Weller's most experimental album: alongside acoustic, jazz and folk atmospheres he adds a more urban and rock style, with urgent guitar riffs.
Among the songs to remember the hints of psychedelia in Andromeda, the collaboration with Jam mate Bruce Foxton in Fast Car / Slow Traffic, 7 & 3 Is the Strikers Name with Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine, the memories of Style Council in the jazz waltz by In Amsterdam, No Tears to Cry, a sublime ballad in the Walker Brothers style and Aim High, a classic Wellerian blue-eyed soul song.
The album is dedicated to those whom Paul defines as "absent friends", people close to him who disappeared in that period: John's father and manager, Pat Foxton, wife of his friend bassist Bruce and Robert Kirby, legendary arranger of the orchestral parts of albums by Nick Drake, Vashti Bunyan, Elton John, Ralph McTell, Elvis Costello and of course Paul himself.
