Cat Stevens Yusuf Teaser And The Firecat Special Edition 4 CD + Blu-ray
After the anniversaries (50th of the publication) of the two albums "Tea for the Tillerman" and "Mona Bone Jakon", 2021 sees Yusuf / Cat Stevens celebrate the album that consecrated him as a forerunner of the entire songwriting movement. "Teaser and the Firecat", the album released in 1971, was re-released in various editions on November 12, 2021 through Island Records/Universal Music.
Cat Stevens achieved phenomenal success with his first albums, but it was 'Teaser and the Firecat', his third LP for Island Records, that made him a real world star, thanks to some songs that became real universal hits: "Moonshadow", "Peace Train" and “Morning Has Broken”, songs written by a young artist immersed in a continuous spiritual search, which would give way to a poignant new wave of soulful songwriters. The song "The Wind" then gave a further boost to the fame of "Teaser and the Firecat"; in fact, the album rose to prominence again with the use of the song in Wes Anderson's famous film "Rushmore" and in Cameron Crowe's Oscar-winning film, "Almost Famous".
“Teaser and the Firecat” was released in 1971, a transitional year in pop culture with such memorable albums as John Lennon's "Imagine", David Bowie's "Hunky Dory", Joni Mitchell's "Blue", Joni Mitchell's "What's Going On" Marvin Gaye, "Sticky Fingers" by the Rolling Stones and 'IV' by Led Zeppelin.
Half a century later, "Teaser and the Firecat" is re-released in a new SUPER DELUXE EDITION – 4CD, Blu-Ray, with 41 unreleased audio tracks and 21 live performances collected for the first time on Blu-ray, an entire CD of studio demos and alternate mixes; a stunning 44-page replica of the original book "Teaser and the Firecat", hand written and illustrated by Yusuf in 1972 and now translated into 10 languages; a 108-page book of essays, plus other rarities.
