Tori Amos Ocean To Ocean Double Vinyl
Ocean to Ocean is Tori Amos' most personal work: a profound album rooted in her early compositions. Written between March and the summer of this year in Cornwall surrounded by family, Ocean to Ocean is a universal story or the path of when you hit rock bottom and then renew yourself.
For an album written in an intimate environment, the rich stylistic variation, from tango to romanticism, and the expansive force of the songs that flow like a series of love letters to close people, both present and absent, are astonishing. A sense of dislocation, both geographical and emotional, is present in the title track, whose drama takes place on the shores of the UK and the USA: a song of togetherness and love, about holding on to each other in troubled times such as those caused by the loss of a loved one (his mother) and the pandemic.
