Pierpaolo Capovilla Obtorto Collo
It is Pierpaolo Capovilla's first solo record album.
Known for being the frontman of The Theater of Horrors and One Dimensional Man, the album was released in May 2014.
Obtorto Collo was produced by Taketo Gohara, former collaborator of Baustelle and Vinicio Capossela. He also sees the collaboration of Paki Zennaro (collaborator of Carolyn Carlson) as author and of Giulio Ragno Favero as co-producer of two songs. The burning was carried out by Giovanni Versari.
The title refers to the Latin phrase obtorto collo, which indicates the acceptance of something unwelcome. Dove Vai was the first song from the album as a single.
The song was released in April 2014 and the related video clip was directed by Mauro Lovisetto, who also edited the album cover. The piece Ottantadue ore narrates the tragic story of the killing of Francesco Mastrogiovanni, a teacher unjustly imprisoned and died after 82 hours of torture.
Goodbye is instead a song dedicated to the poet Andrea Zanzotto. Among the topics covered are domestic violence, social discrimination, the future, existential doubts, loneliness and love. Among the musical references are Scott Walker and Tom Waits. In October 2014 the album was included in the shortlist for the Targa Tenco as "best first work (by songwriter)".
