Edoardo Bennato L'Uomo Occidentale CD
The Western Man is the 17th studio album by the Italian singer-songwriter Edoardo Bennato. Released in 2003, it contains the singles Stop America and Returns the Summer.
The last track Love Me, a tribute to Elvis, one of Edoardo Bennato's true mentors, contains another song within it: a ghost track. This is the musical version of "Marzo 1821", the poem by Alessandro Manzoni dedicated to the memory of Theodor Körner, which Bennato performs - both in the musical style and in the voice - clearly imitating his friend and colleague Francesco Guccini; to the famous verses of Manzoni, Bennato adds a verse (they are the verses from 49 to 52 of the first romance from "Le fantasie" by Giovanni Berchet, published in 1829) in which it is possible to grasp an allusion to the Northern League's Padania. On the arrangement of O 'Sarracino, Salvatore Pisano and Patrix Duenas worked on the first draft together with Bennato himself; the song is a tribute to Renato Carosone and Bob Marley.
The track "I don't know how to give you wrong boy" recalls in the chorus the 1988 song "Il Gioco Continua" by Bennato himself (which in turn is a cover of Joe South's classic "Games people play").
