Finally available the awaited CD of Friar Alessandro Brustenghi, the first friar ever in the history of music to have signed a graphic record contract with a major record company. The announcement made by Decca in June sparked the interest of the international media, including Italy.
Although music was his passion, Alessandro received his vocation as a teenager, and at the age of 21 he decided to become a friar. The legendary Mike Hedges (U2, The Cure, Manic Street Preachers) and his manager discovered him after years of research, and it was only when they met him in person in cassock that they realized that what was being reported to them as an extraordinary tenor was a friar.
The CD, recorded at the legendary Abbey Road studios, contains some of the most famous themes of all time: from the famous "Brother Sun, Sister Moon" of the famous film by Zeffirelli dedicated to St. Francis to Schubert's "Ave Maria", from "Panis Angelicus ”to the Kirie of Misa Criolla, from“ Sancta Maria ”(on the notes of the Cavalleria Rusticana) to“ The Praises of God Most High ”on the text of a prayer written by St. Francis.
Having made a vow of poverty, Brother Alexander will not accept money from the sales of the CD and his daily life will not undergo any change. The proceeds will go directly to the order of the Friars Minor for their charitable activities. Friar Alessandro works in the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, welcoming many of the 6 million visitors who visit Assisi every year.
