Tra Noi Saggi sul Pensare all'Altro Emmanuel Lévinas
"It is always starting from the Face, starting from responsibility for others, that justice appears, which involves judgment and comparison, confrontation with what in principle is incomparable, since every being is unique: every other is unique"
- Plot Tra Noi Saggi sul Pensare all'Altro Emmanuel Lévinas
Emmanuel Lévinas returns to what constitutes the core of his thought: through a series of relevant texts that run through the axes of his reflection, the philosopher defines the nature of the ethical relationship that unites every man with his neighbor.
The reader is invited to a deep dive into the "intersubjective relationship".
There is, however, some mystery, says Levinas, in this bond of the "between us", but this does not mean that we are caught in an indecipherable reality, nor that the "between us" is a space that remains obstinately opaque for us. Over the pages, the veil is lifted.
The relationship of one to the other is revealed in the transcendence of the for-the-other and thus leads to the discovery of the "ethical subject", therefore the "between us".
