Apriti Sesamo is the twenty-ninth studio album of the Italian singer-songwriter Franco Battiato. It is released on October 23, 2012 on the Universal label.
During the following year an entirely sung version in Spanish was released entitled Ábrete Sésamo.
To signal the presence on the guitar of Simon Tong, ex Verve, on the Hammond organ of Carlo Boccadoro and on the bass of Faso, bassist of Elio e le Storie Tese
Battiato takes up musical themes by Christoph Willibald Gluck (from Orpheus and Euridice).
Aurora presents in the text verses by the Arab-Sicilian poet Ibn Hamdis, adapted by Nabil Salameh and with a strophial by Sgalambro. An irresistible call contains quotes from Saint Teresa of Avila. In the Testament, Dante's quotation from the twenty-sixth canto of Hell "you were not made to live like brutes, but to follow virtue and knowledge" contains two very small licenses.
All the music is by Franco Battiato. The texts, in addition to Battiato himself, all contain a contribution by Manlio Sgalambro.
In December 2012 the album was certified gold for over 30,000 copies sold.
