When Theodora, a young woman who has left Greece to look for work and opportunities that her country did not give her, she decides to return to her homeland, no one imagines what her real goal is. She has decided to sneak into the holiest place of the Orthodox Church, Mount Athos, in disguise, where no woman has ever been admitted.
What about her pushes Theodora to leave her relatives and friends who celebrate her return to cut her hair and pretend to be Theodoros, a young pilgrim traveling among the monasteries of the sacred peninsula?
Perhaps the example of uncle Euthymios, a devotee of the Vatopedi monastery, who gave her the charm of that place of peace and prayer? Or maybe it is the search for his own roots and a lost serenity never found anywhere else?
The sacred mountain, however, is not exactly as she expected and sin, intrigue and deception also exist within the walls of the monasteries: Theodora will soon discover it at her own expense. Technology and spirituality, purity and corruption, feminism and religious fanaticism, a novel set in a mysterious place like Mount Athos, in which the events of a woman in search of herself are intertwined with millenary rites but also with dark and dangerous political maneuvers
