Christina Dalcher Master Class
Imagine a school where there is no room for favoritism and everyone is judged on results. A school where the best students are not slowed down by the mediocre or made fun of by the bullies. In America, all of this has become a reality thanks to the Q, a quotient calculated on the basis of tests and conduct, which determines the institution to attend: the brightest students are admitted into the demanding Silver Schools, which guarantee entry to the most exclusive, while normal students remain in the Green Schools. The "bad apples", on the other hand, are removed from their families and taken to the Yellow Schools, isolated structures where they learn basic subjects and discipline. And to make sure that nobody gives up on improving or sits on their laurels, Q tests are repeated every month.
Elena Fairchild participated in the creation of the Q system and saw it as the key to a fairer, more just society. But now, after a few years as a teacher in a Silver School, she is tormented by doubts: although she has welcomed several pupils from the Green Schools, she has never seen anyone return from the Yellow Schools. Parents now fear that van passing from house to house the day after the exam. And now she is one of those parents too: her daughter Freddie got too low a score and will be taken away from her. Without hesitation, Elena fails the teacher Q test and is transferred to the same Yellow School as her daughter. And there he will discover that, when people are reduced to numbers, there is no limit to what can happen to those who no longer count for anything ...
