When Thomas awakens, the elevator doors he is in open onto a world he does not know. He doesn't remember how he got there, nor any details of his past, except his own name. With him there are other boys, all in the same conditions as him, who welcome him to the clearing, a large space bordered by impassable walls.
The boys' only certainty is that every morning the stone doors of the gigantic Labyrinth that surrounds them are opened, only to close again at night. Soon the group develops the organization of a society in which strict rules are in place to maintain order, and every thirty days someone joins them after waking up in the elevator. The mystery deepens when - without anyone expecting it - a girl arrives carrying a message that leaves no alternative but escape.
But the Labyrinth appears to be impregnable ... and could prove to be a death trap.
